tumbling tumble weed 🦊❤️

See them tumbling down,
Pledging their love to the ground!
Lonely, but free, I'll be found,
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds
Cares of the past are behind,
Nowhere to go, but I'll find,
Just where the trail will wind,
Drifting along with the tumblin' tumbleweeds
I know when night is gone,
That a new world's born at dawn!
I'll keep rolling along,
Deep in my heart as a song,
Here on the range I belong,
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds
Tumbleweeds, tumbleweeds!
See them tumbling down,
Pledging their love to the ground!
Lonely, but free, I'll be found,
Drifting along with the tumblin' tumbleweeds

remembering dad

will you remember
how i chased your dreams with you?
when you sit... i’ll know 🦊❤️

Traditionally Japanese haiku writers would write one or two haikus to be remembered by after they have passed on. This is one of mine that is profoundly important for me.

child’s coat

many long, cold nights
warming a concrete fence post
longing to be found 🦊❤️

on again - off again

as i pass street lamps
my walking partner shows up
then he goes away 🦊❤️

making way for the aura

their horns beep and lights turn on
amish load their carts 🦊❤️

pandemic holy hour

sitting - now standing
a holy soul looks inside
praying for an hour 🦊❤️

“Holy Hour” is a ritual in the Catholic Church in which a consecrated host (large communion wafer) is placed into an ornate stand often the color of gold called a Monstrance. The Monstrance is displayed at the altar and people will often pray before the Monstrance for an hour. In our pandemic world, a local church made the Monstrance visible behind a window of the church. It is visible all day and folks do their “Holy Hours” outside in all kinds of weather.

Lola - A 15 year old pooch I met on the muddy trails of Wissahickon on New Year’s Eve. She’s a blend of Jack Russell Terrier, Pug and Chihuahua. Her owners Steve and Joanne slogging along with her and could not be prouder of their “trooper”. The world needs more Lolas!!! Thank you Steve and Joanne for allowing me to share Lola’s story of grit!!!
